Yvonne Doble

Lecturer

Biography:

Having grown up in Humboldt County, the challenges and perspectives of working in rural communities are a foundation of my practice. I graduated from Oberlin College with a self-designed major in Community-Based Education with the goal of returning to do community work here. I spent almost a decade providing training and support to volunteers serving children in the child welfare system, through local and state-wide CASA programs prior to receiving my MSW from Humboldt. I began teaching in the social work program at Humboldt the in Fall of 2012 and served as Director of Community Placement & Practicum for 8 years before continuing as a lecturer.

My professional interests are practical structures for engaging in solidarity and accountability, implementing community-responsive models for engagement, and supporting those with lived experience in systems to be part of policy change.
