Humboldt Department of Social Work Reaffirmation of Accreditation Site Visit

Hello Social Work Students,

Next week, on April 3 and 4, our department will be visited by two social work faculty members from other schools as part of the reaffirmation process for our accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Accreditation by CSWE is essential for the legitimacy of your social work degree and for the reputation of our program. It is also an opportunity for us to make progress toward realizing our purpose as a department (see below).

There is time side aside on Wednesday, April 3, from 12:30-1:30 for BA and MSW students to share your experience in our programs with the site visitors. The rooms on campus and Zoom links are:

BA - BSS 306,
MSW - BSS 420,

Thank you for showing up,
Ronnie Swartz (on behalf of the Humboldt Social Work Department)

The purpose of the Department of Social Work at Cal Poly Humboldt is to:

  • Provide high quality educational programs that promote excellence in the social work profession.
  • Engage with tribal, academic, and professional communities to improve the wellbeing of individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities, and enhance the physical and natural environments within which people live, with particular emphasis on rural Northwestern California.
  • Offer students and community members opportunities to develop skills, leadership capacity, knowledge, practices, and methodologies for fostering change; bringing about social justice, environmental justice, and economic justice; and addressing and healing the ongoing effects of colonization.
