BASW Prerequisites
2 prerequisite courses are required and should be completed during Freshman/Sophomore years or prior to transferring:
1) Introduction to Social Work and Human Services
Eligible Humboldt course:
- SW 101- Introduction to Social Work and Social Work Institutions
2) One course related to diversity
Eligible Humboldt courses:
- ES 105 - Introduction to Ethnic Studies
- NAS 104 - Introduction to Native American Studies (qualifies for MSW prerequisite)
- CRGS 108 - Power/Privilege - Gen/Race/Sex/Class
NOTE: Other courses that are centrally organized around a theme of the experiences of marginalized groups may be accepted. Please email the BASW Director and provide documentation such as a catalogue description or syllabi.
IMPORTANT: Courses related to diversity may meet our Social Work Departments requirements but not the University’s. Please consult with a Transfer Councilor to find and complete a course that meets both the Department and Universities requirement
Introduction and or Elementary Statistics: No longer required beginning Fall 2024
